Tutorial: How to create fun edges on sentiment labels

I am always looking for new ways to create with the tools that I have. Take sentiments for example. There are millions of ways to add sentiments to your cards. I sometimes create the perfect sentiment on my computer with the plethora of fonts I have! Take this card (You light up my life). I printed the font on the computer, then cut the strip with my paper trimmer to make sure it was even.

It was boring as a plain rectangle. I wanted to pull an Emeril!!! {BANG! Free Smiley Courtesy of www.millan.net } Spice it up a notch! I used my Stampin' Up! scalloped square punch and decided that I could use my existing tools (it was lying on my desk at the time) to create a new look.

First, turn your punch upside down.

Next....thread your paper through the punch as shown....make sure it is perfectly even on each side!

Press down and PUNCH!

Once you punch your first side, remove it from the punch and rethread the paper on the other end.

Punch your other side - remembering to line it up evenly~

For this card, I punched the tempting turquoise and the white separately. Adding brads or baubles to each side is a fun way to dress up these sentiment labels.

Try creating your own label by using the Stampin' Up! scalloped square punch - and post your creation here in the comment section!

What a great idea! I don't have that one but I do have the Marvy scallop squares. The scallops are a bit smaller but I bet it would look just fine, thanks for the tip!

You are brilliant!!! I am so very much in that mode of wanting to have different labels and don't want to shell out the $$ for Spellbinders and a die cutting machine. I have used a circle punch in a similar fashion on one end of a label strip but didn't even think of using the square scallop punch (hand hitting forehead now!) TFS!

In these times of economic turmoil & cutting back, this is PERFECT and just the type of info I'd like to see more of. I know we'd all like to be able to buy every new toy/tool that comes along, but how many of us can? Thanks so much for showing us something most of us can at least adapt in some way.
