CC221: Stamposarus

I made two cards today -- I had only an hour or so to create between preschool runs (HA! that is running back and forth to preschool -- not tummy problems in the little ones), lunch and swim practice. I saw that there was a new color challenge over at SCS, so I thought I would give the Kiss and Ride Tango a whirl! (kiwi kiss, riding hood red and tangerine tango)


this first card uses a tangerine background on a 4.25 square base. the tangerine is run through the swiss dots folder. I used the computer to generate the sentiment.

I think that this would make a GREAT birthday card for a BIG birthday (for someone with a good sense of humor!). I used a papertrey white button with some ribbon through it. I also used the word window punch to punch out the sentiment, but then I layered those on small scraps of red and kiwi. The dino was colored with copics.








This 4.25 square card is also on a white base, I used some fun designer paper on the background. I tried something new, sewing the kiwi ribbon right to the main image. I then used a button right on top of the kiwi ribbon, threaded with some orange floss. The button was an SU! ruby red button, but it didn't match, so I ended up coloring it with copics to make it match. Sentiment also created on the computer, then punched with the word window punch. These Pterodactyls (yes, that is the correct spelling) would look really cute with balloons in their beaks, huh?


Stamposarus will be available June 1 (yes, that is yesterday!!!!!) I actually missed my first release party -- I got sick and went to bed before 9 pm last night!

Thank You Hanna!!!

There has been nothing more thrilling for me than being on design teams. I was one of the original members of the Hanna Stamps! design teams. I recently have decided that it is time to let someone else have the fun! Hanna will always be in my heart - Kristi took a chance on me - and she was so wonderful to me. For a LONG time I was spoiled and allowed to play with the newest stamps on the market! Kristi even named one of the moose stamp sets after my daughter, Sophie G. Kristi, thank you so much for everything! It was my pleasure and honor to work with you!

FS120: Oh Mercy, Mercy Me.....

My first card, based on Mercy's {Forever Friends} card. Changes: colors, stamp set, used buttons instead of brads. I liked the layout, but reversed the colors, white base, bright color on top. I used the Sophie G. inner tube stamp and the sentiment from Things Hanna Would Say {happy birthday}. I did some sewing on the card instead of the paper piercing. I ran out of bobbin thread mid way through sewing, so had to go over the card twice. I colored Sophie in with copics, then added some drips with copics and sakura stardust. I also added some stardust to the accessories on Sophie to make her look wet. Mayarts ribbon moved down just above the SU! designer paper. This was for Hailey's birthday (HAPPY BIRTHDAY HAILEY!)





Wedding number one....based on {forever friend}. Changes: colors, stamp set, added flower. Instead of designer paper, I used textured cardstock (using the cuttlebug folders). Added a button and ribbon instead of the clip and added the flower instead of the three brads. Colored Riley & Sophie G with copics. Sentiment from Wishing You {Papertrey}. Bashful, Navy & Brocade cardstock.





Here is the second wedding card....based on {Nov. Bday Cards}. I changed colors, made the card square, changed stamp sets and added a strip of ribbon. Instead of sewing a straight stitch all around the card, I used a zig zag stitch on the bottom. The wedding colors will be nevy and yellow (West Point Graduates). I used some navy textured coordinations paper, some banana and marigold (SU!) and my swiss dots cb folder. Once again, Riley and Sophie G. are colored with copics. I used some stickles on Sophie's dress.

CAS02: Pool Floaties!

This makes me think of Float Friday at our pool. This stamp is *SO* Xavier....this is my son - 100%. He is a waterbug.... this photo was taken at the pool on his birthday.







I started with a white base, and added a half sheet of designer paper. I had some fun summer colors on some designer paper in my 12x12 stash. I stamped the main image on white cardstock with black soot ink. Then I used some copics to color the main image. The sentiment is stamped on only orange. A white button with some white sheer polkadot ribbon threaded through. I used some baubles on the bottom of the main image.

Simple, clean card....qualifies for CAS02 - one button will do!

CAS13: Hey Sunshine

Here is my entry for the CAS13 . I used a white base with a green galore layer. The white layer has circles of bold bright colors, stamped with some of the fun accessory stamps from the new To the beach set from Hanna Stamps! I used the sentiment from Things Hanna Would Say. I highlighted with a white gel pen.

FS117: Sparkplug

This week's featured stamper is Sparkplug17. The first card {Rain, Rain} was so fun, so I changed the colors, moved around the items, added some ribbon....

I used some fun designer paper which I got from my friend Kendra this summer. LOVE IT! Looks like backyard BBQ time! I was laughing making this card. Poor Riley is wearing nuthin' but an apron! Debbie was over and I was giggling and saying how disturbing it would be if Todd were out there making burgers and dogs with nuthin' but an apron on....

Sparkle used strips behind the main image - I used a strip of paper and a ribbon. Instead of using baubles/dewdrops, I used brads and moved them to another location on the card. I also moved the sentiment. The grill and utensils have some sakura stardust.

The second card I loved in Sparkle's gallery was the {For You Ducky} card. I LOVED the circle scallop card! LOVED IT! I used a pink base - some designer paper (DCWV) and some celery (Sparkle had a regular circle mat, I used a scallop). The main image is colored with copics. I used some buttons (papertrey) in pink and green (with some mayarts ribbon threaded through) on the bottom and some primas with a white brad on the top.

HSC67: Summer Reading

Are you looking forward to summer? I am! I cannot wait to sit by the pool and read....yeah right! Can you imagine? I wish I could read by the pool. I am usually under my favorite tree by the kiddie pool. I am Irish/German...so my skin does not like the sun....

I can attest to that since I had to visit the dermatologist this week and get steriod cream for a rash that I have had since last Friday because I sat out in the sun for about 45 minutes. Yes, I know -- what was I thinking -- but it is Upstate New York in April....alas...I have learned my lesson and purchased several Lands End sun shirts for this summer. I am starting a new trend...SUN SHIRTS and Bookmarks {grin}

This was made for today's Hanna Stamps Challenge (HSC67). Create a Flat item, not a card (tag, bookmark). I took a strip of chipboard and covered it in this fun, bright patterned paper. I printed out the saying on the computer, then punched the Summer Reading sentiment with the SU! designer label punch. I stamped the beach ball and flip flops from the new set "To the beach" {Hanna Stamps, available May 4}. I colored the images, then trimmed them out and adhered them to the bookmark. I punched three holes with my crop-a-dile, then threaded some Mayarts ribbon through the holes.

Where's the beef?

Did you ever see that commercial "Where's the beef?" Oh boy did that make me laugh. When I saw Granny Hanna, that is immediately what I thought of! It was such a memorable commercial!!!!





In honor of earth day, I made this card with a recycled piece of paper (double sided gift wrap). I started with a barely banana base, then the recycled paper. I used some Stampin' Up! designer paper scraps on the bottom. Attached some ribbon and velvet rick rack to the card, added the sentiment, prima, button. Sentiment is printed on the computer, then trimmed.

Main image is stamped on white cardstock and then again on a scrap of the recycled paper. I trimmed the recycled paper dress and adhered it to Granny Hanna. The rest is colored with copics.

Recycling....

Todd came home from China with half a dozen of these journals with weird sentiments on the front. This one said:
Corner
Where is your wanted?
Maybe in the corner
The world is so big, where's your head?

WHAT? What does that mean? LOL!
Well, the journals were nice, but the were really screaming to be altered! I made one for Todd, which will be featured on the Craft Critique website. Todd has trouble sleeping so I made him one for his nightstand. He can put his thoughts down in his head at night (those little things that run through your mind that keep you up for all hours of the night).

I had a pink journal which I altered. I brought it to the gym with me yesterday. This one uses scraps of designer paper (from previous projects). I used this My Minds Eye paper for another project I did last month (Hanna Paper Dolls). I couldn't bear to throw away the scraps, so I put them in my handy dandy file folder. I scrap of rose red cardstock, and a neatly trimmed main image on white cardstock. Sophie G. was stamped with Aerobic Riley (I think it should be Aerobic Sophie G (legwarmers people!!!). I totally Richard Simmons-afied her...I colored her outfit in pink, then took a pink Sakura gel pen and completely sparkled the top! That is *so* Richard Simmons! Sentiment printed on the computer, trimmed and mounted to the journal. Some fun ribbon and a feather top sparkle gel pen for the journal.

I was *STYLIN* at the gym the other day, taking notes from my personal trainer! :)

LSC214: Off Your Rocker

This week's Limited Supply Challenge is 1-2-3 (which reminds me of the Plain White T's song (123)

you make it easy, as easy as 1 2,(1 2 3 4.) There's only one thing two do three words four you: i love you.

My kids love that song!

So I used 1 color (red) - plus neutral (white). 2 designer papers (from my Provo Craft stash) - 3 elements (brads, ribbon and dimensionals (don't know if these count).

Sometimes I like to stamp on the colored cardstock so I don't have to color them in -- using the white cardstock as a layer to make the color pop! I like the way this card turned out! Yes - some days I am off my rocker! Don't you ever feel that way -- this stamp is from the new Granny Hanna set being released Monday. Off to sit at the raffle table at the school Spring Carnival!

LSC213: Out like a lamb

I checked the LSC today on SCS too early and last week's challenge came up -- so I played -- Here is my sample: black & white is the limit - you can only used black and white. I used a white base, a black sheet of cardstock, dry pressure embossed with the textile folder. Sewed a wide ribbon across the card -- added a button, some patterned paper, computer sentiment (You Grow Girl) and some ribbon in the button. Simple and easy. This stamp is Mommie to be from Hanna Stamps! It will be released Monday.

Sneak Peek: Granny Hanna

I was able to work in a BUNCH of SCS challenges in this one card! This week's SC (SC222), the WT212 (foiled again - using foil), HSC63 (black and white and red all over), HSC57 (metal mania). I used the basket of yarn from the Hanna Granny set and stamped it with ranger black soot ink, then colored with copics. The main image is layered on tinfoil, then on black. Patterned paper is old - from my stash of Provo Craft (during my hay day of buying from Michaels). This felt very country -- and it made me think of knitting. I used some big and small PTI buttons - sorry - they are naked. The sentiment is printed on the computer, then trimmed and adhered under the big button. This is going to my friend Margaret from church. She knits AMAZING! Seriously - she made argyle socks for her dad - size 10. WHO DOES THAT? She makes American girl sweaters for her daughter's dolls to match her daughters sweaters. I LOVE IT! I wish I could knit! She will enjoy my humor on this card -- what do you think?

Got Wood?

Okay - so I got the wood from my neighbor Al (see the thank you note I made him). Little did I know that my neighbor Lisa was also eyeing the wood pile! You see, Lisa has this amazing backyard, with a waterfall, pond and a beautiful outdoor fireplace on her patio. Lisa wanted the wood, but I asked first. I felt horrible (however she was able to grab some of the ice storm wood from another neighbor!). Here is a little card I made for her - I think we will split a load of seasoned firewood -- since we have a new fire pit that we are going to use a LOT this spring and summer!

This card is on a regal rose base. I used the cuttlebug with love folder for the mustard layer. The velvet flower is from Papertrey ink. I used a PTI button as well, but colored it with a copic to make it more "mustard". The sentiment is printed on the computer, then punched with the small oval Stampin' Up! punch. Main image, flower and sentiment all mounted on dimensionals (since I am hand delivering it!). May arts ribbon.

Do you remember our ice storm? We had quite a large amount of damage in our area, and now that it is spring, people are piling up their wood and the damaged branches for spring pick up. Our neighbor had a pile of wood which he cut and stacked neatly in the front yard. I spied it and quickly shot off an email and asked him if we could have the wood for our fire pit in the backyard. S'more season will be approaching soon, and it sure is nice to have some nice dry wood for burning in the fire pit. I got Todd and the wheel barrow and we snagged the wood. I made this thank you note for him! The background is the traffic jam A2 embossing folder. I had some mulberry paper (I had quite the stash of mulberry paper at one time - during my torn mulberry phase). That was so *1999*. (snicker). I had some designer paper scraps that I threw on the card too. Gonna go stick this in his mailbox! What do you think?

Some days - don't you just want to be pampered! Sophie G. sometimes *DRIVES* me to want a spa day. (My Sophie G. not the moose stamps). She is a PILL! 3 going on 23 - with such a fun attitude, but completely and thoroughly exahusting. Wouldn't I love a pedi today! Gotta get my toes ready for Spring. Todays Hanna Stamps Challenge (#61) is dry or heat embossing. I used dry pressure embossing on the background. Some old SU! designer paper - lots of pink here - I am in a pink mood!

Sentiment is printed on the computer. Nestabilites were used for the main image and the sentiment.
