FS151: SmilynStef

This week's featured stamper is SmilynStef. I decided to use the Plum Snowflakes card to case this week. I changed the color (to Navy) and the stamp set (I used my Winter Swirls/Papertrey Ink Stamp set). I also added a button with some silver cord.

I started with a navy base and then stamped random snowflakes from the Winter Swirls stamp set on white cardstock with white craft ink. I covered the white ink with clear embossing powder and heat embossed. I sponged the background with navy ink, then spritzed it with denim glimmer mist. I used some silver/navy ribbon in a big bow on the top, then mounted the white paper to the navy base. I found a navy button in my PTI stash and tied some silver cord in a bow. I stamped the sentiment in white ink on navy paper and punched the end with a scalloped square punch to give it a little fun edge.

stamp: Winter Swirls/Papertrey Ink
paper: Navy, white
ink: white craft, navy (SU!)
misc: clear embossing powder, silver cord, ribbon, glimmer mist (denim), punch

FS150: Benzi

Here is the card which I created based on Brenda's {Fa La La} card. I thought her snowman card was so adorable! I changed:

  • the color from red & white to green & white
  • the main image to a sentiment
  • the main image to an oval from a rectangle
  • the sentiment to a snowflake
I loved the snowflake background, so I kept that the same! I used sheer white ribbon (American Crafts) and created the main image with the sentiment from Merry Wishes (OCL). The snowflake and button (papertrey ink) replace the fa la la sentiment on Brenda's card.

It's hard to see, but I sprinkled some glitter on the wet ink to make it sparkle!

It was a fun card to case! Thanks to Brenda for the inspiration!

stamps: Merry Wishes (Our Craft Lounge)
paper: white, hunter
ink: white (PTI)
misc: punches, ribbon, button, glitter

FS149 Pam124

Quick post -- this week's featured stamper is Pam124.

I loved the simplicity of her Holiday Cheer card, and decided to give it a whirl with a few changes:

  • changed to Kraft/white/green
  • used snowflakes as the main image
  • changed stamp set
  • used buttons/ribbon in the center of the flakes
  • removed pearls
I enjoyed the embossing on the main part of the card and thought the snowflake embossing powder would make for a great addition to the card. I punched the snowflakes and also embossed those with the same folder...giving them some texture! Sentiment from Our Craft Lounge set {Reindeer Kisses}. Sentiment punched with oval punch.

stamps: Our Craft Lounge {Reindeer Kisses}
paper: Kraft, white, garden green
ink: garden green
misc: PTI buttons, snowflake punches, oval punches, snowflake cuttlebug folder, ribbon (mayarts)

Making a difference

Once a man was walking along a beach. The sun was shining and it was a beautiful day. Off in the distance he could see a person going back and forth between the surf's edge and and the beach. Back and forth this person went. As the man approached he could see that there were hundreds of starfish stranded on the sand as the result of the natural action of the tide. The man was stuck by the the apparent futility of the task. There were far too many starfish. Many of them were sure to perish. As he approached the person continued the task of picking up starfish one by one and throwing them into the surf.

As he came up to the person he said, "You must be crazy. There are thousands of miles of beach covered with starfish. You can't possibly make a difference." The person looked at the man. He then stooped down and pick up one more starfish and threw it back into the ocean. He turned back to the man and said, "It sure made a difference to that one!"

I love that story....how are you making a difference this year? Have you thought about your resolutions yet or how you can make a difference this holiday season?

I created the design based on {this} card

This card is for Katie's 22nd Birthday. Katie lives with us and goes to St. Rose for her bachelors in Speech! Happy Day Katie! I created this design based on Michele's card {here}. I don't know if it counts because it is a color challenge card -- I checked the keywords - she used another card as her inspiration, and I think it is a sketch card.....but, regardless, it's my version based on her lovely card!

FS147: Mrs. Boz

Better late than NEVER! This is the FS147 card which I created last weekend. It was such a busy, late night that I didn't get a blog post up! Then with the holiday decorating which Todd and I worked on -- I completely forgot to put the card on my blog! Here it is!

Here is CarollAnn's {CARD}

A kraft base with some blue core'dinations cardstock (navy) which has a nice texture, then a piece of glossy white cardstock, run through the cuttlebug snowflakes folder. I spritzed the cuttlebugged layer with denim and snowflake glimmer mist! I used the same core'dinations cardstock for the oval and the snowflake. I embossed the punched snowflake with the same cuttlebug folder. A simple gem in the center of the snowflake. The sentiment is from Merry Wishes (Our Craft Lounge). Oval punched navy (core'dinations) and glossy white for the sentiment.

Changes from the original card:
colors, flipped design on its side and changed the stamp set!

stamps: Merry Wishes {Our Craft Lounge}
paper: kraft, core'dinations navy textured, glossy white
ink: night of navy
misc: punches (snowflake, ovals), cuttlebug (snowflake), glimmer mist (denim, snowflake), gem

FS146: Biggan

I made this card with the new OCL set called Out for a Spin. It is based on the
{Out of the Oval} card made by Biggan (aka Birgit). Birgit has a wonderful style....and I loved the fun look of the card she created. I wanted to make it a little more whimsical -- so I used some Abbey Road paper along with a little pink to compliment the bicycle.....I love this bike! The flowers are so cute - love the little polka dot doohickie on the bike....and the basket with the flowers! Oh yeah! Who had the big flower on the front of their bike (raises hand). From Birgit's design, I changed the colors and the stamp set. I added a few primas on the bottom and put a couple of dew drops in the center of them!

Stamps: Our Craft Lounge {Out For A Spin}
paper: white, abbey road, pink
ink: black, copics
misc: ribbons (mayarts), dew drops, primas, cuttlebug swiss dots, stickles (on stamped flowers)

HB2U times 2

These two cards are for Aidan & Liam, the son's of a friend. They are Irish twins, just a little over a year apart. Such cutie boys! They turn 6 & 5 this year -- so I thought that these Botz cards would be the perfect addition to their gift bags. Xavier goes to Kindergarten with Aidan! These cards are a white base with the green designer paper (DCWV) on the front. A few pieces of SU! designer paper and a punched stars with a button on top. These were so easy and fun to make!

stamps: Our Craft Lounge { The Botz Family }
ink: black, copics
paper: DCWV green, SU! dp, white, brilliant blue
misc: buttons, thread (PTI), star punch

OCL Blog Hop: Bird & Groom 2

I just love the cake in the Bird and Groom set (being released tomorrow at Our Craft Lounge!). This is such a versatile cake -- I am using this card for a birthday card for Ella, our little neighbor friend who is celebrating her 6th birthday. The little bow is such a perfect addition to the top of the cake. I used some retired pomegranate paper from SU! for the base and some fun Abbey Road designer paper on the card. The blue (under the main image) is the flip side of the polka dot paper. I love that I had some may arts with the bright green and pomegranate polka dots on it! I cut the cake out and colored it with copics, then placed it on a piece of white cardstock which I dry pressure embossed! I think Ella is going to love this card!

stamps: OCL {Bird and Groom}
paper: pomegranate, abbey road, white
ink: black, copics

OCL Blog Hop: Bird & Groom

Here is another sneak peek from the new releases upcoming from Our Craft Lounge. This is a clean and simple card -- I love clean and simple. I used some fun Abbey Road paper with some chocolate chip cardstock as a nice contrast. The cake was stamped on white and colored with copic markers in a variety of pinks. The heart for the cake topper was stamped in pink, trimmed out and placed atop the cake with some adhesive. I adhered the main image to the card with dimensionals. I used stickles on the heart and the flowers, beads on the cake. The sentiment was stamped on white cardstock and punched with the designer label punch. Such a simple card, but perfect for the bride and groom!

I created this card with the soon to be released set from Our Craft Lounge! The set is called "Wanted" and it is really fun! I cut out the boots and hats and colored them in with copics. The card is framed with the rope stamp. FS145: Treasure Oiler

Dawn is this week's featured stamper! I chose two cards to case:

The Happy Thanksgiving card is based on Dawn's {snowman cards}. I changed the stamp set and colors, removed the gems, added ribbon and buttons.

I used some DCWV paper for the card and simply added some stamped images on the oval and put the sentiment in the center. The images were colored with copics. Some ribbon and buttons on the front of the card makes this simple, clean design complete.

Stamps: OCL Giving Thanks
Paper: white, DCWV, chocolate chip
ink: black, copics
misc: ribbon (SU!), punches, buttons

This second card was so FUN! I based this card on Dawn's {bowl of cherries} card. I changed the colors and the stamp set! I used some Abbey Road paper for the background and some may arts ribbon. I used some mulberry paper and the snowflake punch, punched a white snowflake and a mulberry snowflake and layered them together. I added a button and some ribbon and replaced the main image which Dawn used with the snowflake. I added some stickles to the snowflake too! The main sentiment is from OCL "Merry Wishes" I added some stickles to the sentiment and placed it atop a scalloped circle!!!!

Stamps: OCL {Merry Wishes}
paper: white, abbey road, pomegranate, mulberry
ink: black
misc: ribbon,stickles, punch

FS144 Christians.ink

Christine m. is this week's featured stamper!! I created two cards! They were both clean and simple cards, so it was easy to case them! The first one was based on this card:

{CAS38 Card}

I changed the stamp set and mat color. I also added some images next to the sentiment and removed the brad.

White base, chocolate chip mat -- both were edged with the side of the curly label punch. The main image from OCL "Giving Thanks" stamp set was colored with copics. The sentiment was stamped in Ranger Walnut and the side images (acorns) were colored with copics.

Super easy card!

The second card is based on Christine's {CAS32 Card}. I changed the colors and used a stamped image for the main image, not a real flower and brad.

I stamped the flower image from Thankful Flourishes in black on white cardstock and then colored it with copics. I stamped the image a second time and layered it atop one another with dimensionals. I stamped the leaves in new leaf (PTI) ink and trimmed them out and adhered them under the flower. Stickles are in the center of the flower to make it shimmer. A piece of rick rack under the black mat and the sentiment on the bottom in black ink complete the design.

I really enjoyed Christine's clean gallery! You should check it out! {Chrisations.ink}

Give Thanks card:

Stamps Giving Thanks
Paper: white, chocolate chip
Ink: Black, copics, walnut stain (ranger)
misc: curly label punch

So very thankful card:
Stamps: Thankful Flourishes
paper: banana, black, white
ink: new leaf (PTI), black, copics
misc: rick rack, stickles, dimensionals.

FS143: Miss Boo

I have known Miss Boo (aka Jen) for years now! I love her new CAS (clean and simple) feature on SCS. Did you know that Jen was the brains behind Featured Stamper? YES! (Nods)

This is the card I decided to make based on Jen's card {CAS34 Happy day}

I changed the colors -- flipped the card to horizontal and changed the stamp set. I also eliminated the ribbon and put the sentiment just below the main image.

I loved the hint of pattern behind the main image, so I made a trailing star pattern with fresh snow ink on the kraft base. A scalloped oval in chocolate and an oval in red with a stamped image (tree from Reindeer Kisses/Our Craft Lounge) with dark chocolate ink. I stamped the star with chocolate on avocado paper, then trimmed the star and placed it atop the tree. Some globs of stickles on the tree and star....and the sentiment in chocolate complete the card. Simple....easy!

stamps: Reindeer Kisses {Our Craft Lounge}
paper: kraft, chocolate, red, avocado
ink: chocolate, fresh snow
misc: punches, stickles

FS142: Rachelhope13

This week's featured stamper is Rachelhope13. The card I selected is {Witchy Boo} . I loved the look with small sentiment and the patterns of various colors on the main base of the card.
changes:
stamp set, colors, used button instead of dew drop, used ticket corner punch instead of corner rounder

I decided to use patterned paper to make the main base of the card (instead of stamps). I found some DCWV winter stack paper and thought it would be a good fit! I used the sentiment from OCL's Merry Wishes}. Instead of a dew drop, I used a button (papertrey) and a ribbon. The sentiment is stamped with black ink on real red cardstock, the v-cut is hand trimmed.

This was such an easy card to make -- it would be so simple for mass production! Tomorrow is my baby's 12th birthday - Happy Birthday Karen Suzanna!

Stamps: Merry Wishes {Our Craft Lounge}
Paper: white, real red, designer paper (DCWV)
Ink: black (ranger)
Misc: ribbon (unknown source), button (mayarts), ticket corner punch (SU!)
